This concentric square motif is one I keep coming back to, then wondering why I keep coming back to it. "Laying down the wax is the laborious part," I try to tell myself as I coax the beeswax into fine, straight lines: "It's smooth sailing from there." And then I remember what a pain it is to paint each teensy square, making sure no two consecutive squares are the same shade. "Never again," I say. "No more concentric squares." And then I remove the wax, step back to admire it.... and start another one.
