"All-Seeing Eye" Banner Tapestry

Adorn your home and body with this unique work of textile art. Most of my radial batik tapestries are square, starting at a center point and radiating outward. These banner pieces are such a fun variation and challenge for me as a designer. For this piece, the large oval eye shape acted as my starting point, but I let the smaller inscribed circles between each "eye" act as part of the foreground instead of filling in with simpler shapes. I'm really pleased with the balance this created. For the other batik nerds who may be reading this, this was also the first tapestry I made primarily with my new Miao wax knife rather than a Javanese tjanting, and I'm really pleased with the linework I was able to achieve by using these tools in combination!
